Jurassic world developmentIt's a rare example of a game that enlightens and builds on its source material rather than copying it. And it's an experience I keep coming back to.
The idea of creating a fully functional Jurassic World is something that John Hammond (and to some extent) Simon Masrani never came up with. I could talk for hours about Hammond's Jurassic Park image and how greed and natural curiosity led to his downfall and, much later, Masrani's downfall. developmentJurassic world development, Frontier Developments gives us the tools that these two great characters had, with the added factor of chaos.
How we create our dinosaur theme park is entirely up to us, the players. Do we rely on security so that the mistakes of the past remain in the past? Or we focus on entertaining our guests. Or are we overwhelmed by scientific curiosity? They gave us keys but no instructions on how to use them. And that's the beauty of it.

Good morning Rich, thanks for speaking to me this morning. First wWhat was it like making a game set in the Jurassic Park/World franchise? Did Universal have much to say about the final product?
Hello Roberto It has been amazing to work on this project for the last three years. As a kid you see these movies and you like them; "Wow isJurassic Park” and now I can make a video game out of this franchise. We have a lot of management game experience here at Frontier and it was great to use that experience to bring these dinosaurs to life. Universal provided some aspects of the original game design, and we went to them with ideas for what to do with the current designs and made sure our scripts were consistent with the franchise. Universal has allowed us, as management experts, to create an experience for you to manage these parks. It was great working with Universal as they have a great love for UniversalJurassic Parkfranchise and they let us into this sandbox, which was a wonderful experience.
Were there any projects Universal turned down? Or something you thought wouldn't fit the spirit of Jurassic World?
No not true. Early on, we talked to Universal about what we wanted to bring to the franchise: take a management game and wrap it in the Jurassic Park feel. What we did get from the movies was how they stole Ian Malcolm's "How can you control chaos" line. It's not just about creating a dinosaur theme park, but what would you do if it went wrong? When things go wrong, and they will, we try to make it through this mess in a worthwhile way. It's all about you - the player who embodies Simon Masrani and John Hammond - and how you manage every aspect of your park. From keeping guests happy to managing Rangers and ACT teams when things go wrong. It was that idea that we pitched to Universal, and they felt like we really got the spirit of Jurassic Park and built on that.
Speaking of chaos. My personal experience is that you are good at planning ahead, but you literally don't know when this is going to start.not correct.
Yep, it's about getting as far as you can and then how to deal with the aftermath, and the raptors really don't like rain!
We've only seen two of the five islands that make up the Five Deaths in the Jurassic Park franchise: Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna. When adding to the films, what aspects did you find difficult to correct?
We found building worlds a lot more challenging than dinosaurs, if only because there is far less raw material for world design. Filmmakers only build sets to be filmed from certain angles and the same goes for the islands, we only see them from certain angles. Whereas they (Universal) did a lot of work to bring the dinosaurs to life. We have a lot of source material, like sound effects and models from the film. That gave us the basis to bring them into play. There are some aspects we added that you don't see in the movies like a sleeping T-Rex as well as the back of the visitor center. We had to use them to visualize what they would look like in order to create concepts from them. The biggest challenge was creating levels and islands that look like the movies and taking aspects of them to bring them to life in a video game.
The first thing I did when playing Jurassic World Evolution was visit Isla Nublar and Sorna, and Frontier did a great job of capturing how I hoped they would feel.
Yes, it was about realistically bringing to life what Universal had designed. For example, the Jurassic Park level was built to look like real life. Where we see the Visitor Center, the Shelter, and the T-Rex Pen in the films, we don't see where they relate to each other. To help us, we used maps and other materials to realistically locate and link these objects in the way you would expect if you were sitting in the sky over the island and looking down.
In making a game like this, how important was it to Frontier for Frontier to have the actors from the film reprise their roles, and how do you think this affects the experience for the players?
The characters in these films are also central to the action, adding that human factor to the world. Jeff Goldblum again for the role of Dr. Winning Ian Malcolm was great and has some of the best lines of the line. The same goes for Bryce Dallas Howard, BD Wong and Laura Dern. Having these actors on board was really key to building the authenticity ofJurassic world development🇧🇷 These actors are very proud of their characters and each gave us great feedback on what their characters would do in these situations. BD Wong, for example, played Dr. Wu and gave us great feedback on how his character would behave if someone who didn't have that much experience with the character didn't have that insight.
Speaking of Dr. Wu, we see in the movies that she's been quite busy creating certain hybrid dinosaurs. Is there a hybrid that you are particularly proud of?
Some of the hybrids we see in Secrets of Dr. Wu added shows how these hybrids are now a thing, and mating two dinosaurs adds a bit of creativity and certainly appeals to certain players. I really liked the Indominus Rex from the movie. It's a scary dinosaur because it's a hybrid. It takes something that was already terrifying and makes it even more so. There are so many more possibilities in what Universal can bring nowjurassic worldDeductible for including hybrids. Personally, I prefer the more traditional dinosaurs, but hybrids allow you to do more with them. Once again, Indominus has a stealth ability that you can research and add to your in-game layout, much like Dr. Wu would do it in the build.jurassic world.
Featuring the sandbox nature of Jurassic World Evolution. Players can create Jurassic Park or Jurassic World on the picture. There are some really great designs out there. Have you ever seen the work of a player that really impressed you?
ÖJurassic world developmentCommunity was amazing. We've seen a lot of great things since launch. We've given the player the tools to create these things, but you're never sure what they'll do. At Frontier, we see the entire community making some really cool pieces of what we give them in all of our games. One project that comes to mind is that someone made San Diego Park out of itThe Lost World: Jurassic Parkwhich was great. We haven't thought of that yet. We give you the tools to create Jurassic Park or World, but you did something completely different. It's creations like this that are truly amazing to behold.
With Park Builders already incredibly evolved, where do you see the genre going in the next 5 years?
What we are already seeingPlanet Zoo, Rollercoaster PlanetmiJurassic world developmentand we will see more in the future; more depth to what it can do. We will take care of making these animals look more natural and realistic in future games. Like their behavior, it takes these creatures and blurs them so the player sees a simulation that looks, feels, and behaves like reality. That's where I look at the genre: making creatures smarter and deeper.
