what is cmg

Checkmate Gaming (CMG) is an online esports platform that allows users to compete for real cash prizes on their favorite video game titles. Our services are available on all major consoles and to users in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and parts of APAC.

Players registering on the site agree to be at least 18 years of age upon registration.

Cash games, tournaments and XP games

Cash matches are similar to leaderboards, with the main difference being the betting involved. When posting a cash match, you must enter the cash entry fee per player. When you accept a game, you will see the cash entry fee per player.

The winning members of each team receive their entry fee and their opponent's entry fee. Members pay a small service fee and elite members receive discounted rates. Elite subscriptions can be purchased in the store.

Tournaments have set start times and are played in bracket format. The loser of each match is eliminated from the tournament and the winner advances to the next round until the first place winner is determined.

Once the tournament start time is reached, the bracket is generated and the teams are randomly placed against each other. Each team will randomly receive a seed, which will be displayed on the tournament support page. The seeds are used to determine which team will host each game/map. The seed closest to zero is called the first host.

Note: A minimum of (2) teams is required for tournaments. For non-guaranteed tournaments, the final tournament prize pool will be determined by the number of qualified teams ranked in the tournament at the start of the tournament.

XP matches are 100% free and a great way to earn experience points (XP). XP determines each user's CMG range. When you win games you earn XP and when you lose games you lose XP.

Most games have 3 XP matches: solos, duos, and squads. Solos are solos, duets are duets, and squads are three or more.

To schedule a match, you can either accept a match that has been posted to the matchmaker or post a match to the matchmaker for another CMG member to accept. After you schedule a game, you can find game details on your team page or on the My Games page. Each team has 10 minutes from the scheduled start time to invite/join their opponent.

how to apply

Registration is a simple and straightforward process, 100% free for anyone wishing to participate in XP cash games, tournaments and contests. Just click the Join Free button in the top right corner and you'll be guided through the process.

After creating an account, a confirmation email will be sent. Please check your spam/junk and ALL email folders for this email.

What is the match finder?

The Match Finder, located in the top bar menu, is where you can search for cash or XP matches. Selecting any of the options will take you to the game page for that game type. From there you can choose the game you want to play and start playing!

How to see the rules of the game

Games may experience issues, including but not limited to lag, disconnections, sabotage, and use of restrictions. If you encounter problems during gameplay, please refer to the Rules page for matching requirements, losses, and game restrictions.

  • The tournament rules page can be found directly on the tournament page and on the game details page when you have a game scheduled.
  • The rules for XP matches and cash matches can be found in the match finder for that game and on the match details page if you have a scheduled match.

Direct links from the rules page:

  • war zone
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • fourteen days
  • dishonest society

How to add players to a team

  • Each Duo and Squad team page has a Manage Roster button that allows you to invite members to your team. You cannot invite members to a Solos team.
  • To access your team page, click on "My Teams" in the menu on the right and select your team.
  • When creating a team directly from a tournament, leaderboard, or challenge, you can invite a teammate using their username.
  • Players can be removed from your team's admin page.
  • Rosters cannot be changed or replaced after a tournament or scheduled game has started. Make sure your players are correct when registering, posting, or accepting a game.

No shows and flares

  • The no-show period for live support matches begins 15 minutes after the start of the match. After 15 minutes, contact an admin through live match support using the "No Show" or "Ask Admin" buttons.
  • If your opponent did not show up or did not show up for ticketed matches, record your absence (with time stamps) beginning five minutes after the reported start time and continuing until ten minutes after the entered start time.
    • For example, if you want your game to start at 10:00 p.m. m., check in from 10:05 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. m. to 10:10 a.m. m.
  • If your opponent doesn't add, join, invite, or start, they can be counted as a no-show.

Note: For best-of-3 matches, you need to record an additional video from, say, 10:10-10:15 on top of the first one that confirms your win for the second map.

When to fill out a W8/W9 form

  • After you win $600 in tournament prizes, you will need to complete a W8 or W9 form.
  • When requesting the price, you will receive a "waiting documents" notification.
  • Please complete the form below with the necessary information to allow our finance team to process your request.
  • Please provide your full name, location, and the email address where you would like to receive your W8/W9 form.
  • Once you've done this, please allow up to 72 hours for the finance team to process your information and email your forms. If you do not receive a response after 72 hours, please contact our finance email again: finance@checkmategaming.com
  • Note: This email comes from a service called track1099 and therefore may appear in your spam folder.
  • If you have multiple paperwork pending awards, you only need to complete one set of documents and the tax office will process all documents for the remainder of the year, including any pending awards.
  • For each new calendar year, you must complete a new set of documents.

*Attempting to contact the finance team before 72 hours have passed will only delay processing time and increase wait times. Take the time to get your forms.

How to fill out a W8/W9 form

  • If you are completing a W8 form, please be sure to complete Section 5 and/or 6, as due to foreign codes, this information does not need to be completed prior to submission and will only delay the processing time for your winning claims.
  • Once you have successfully completed these forms, the processing team will process any outstanding winning claims on your account and you will be ready to continue for the remainder of the year.

*Please use your full name as it would appear on any official document.

earnings balance

Your winning balance, displayed on the My Bank page, shows how much of your account balance was won. Winnings listed on your winnings balance are payable. In-game winnings from tickets played are subject to a 36-hour waiting period before appearing in your winnings balance.

Connected PayPal accounts

Under PayPal's rules and regulations, users can only have one PayPal account linked to their CMG account. After making your first deposit to CMG via PayPal, you must wait 72 hours before the account becomes available in your withdrawal section. If you are having problems with your connected PayPal account, please contact finance@checkmategaming.com.

You can submit a ticket for review by clicking the icon in the top right corner and going to My Tickets. After choosing to create a ticket, you can choose whether to create a game dispute or a general ticket. Match Play tickets are automatically associated with all ticket-supported matches in play.

  • Submitting a ticket essentially means that you have encountered an issue and/or a problem that needs to be addressed or resolved. Tickets can address gaming issues, suspected fraud, suspicious account activity, support questions, disputes, and more.
  • General tickets are not directly connected to Match Dispute tickets. Be sure to select the correct game resolution ticket category.

How to submit a ticket

  • In the User Navigation Pane, select My Tickets.
  • Click "Create New Ticket"
  • Choose General Ticket or Dispute and fill in all your information
  • You can only submit dispute tickets if your game has been played AND you are the team leader
  • DO NOT submit game dispute tickets in general, as this may delay processing and result in your dispute being automatically forfeited

*To create a match ticket, your match must be played. Only the team leader has the ability to submit a ticket. If you are the team leader and are still unable to submit a ticket, please check your game as the other team may have mistakenly accepted defeat due to the dispute. Live support does not handle ticketed games.

How to access live support

  • For live support matches and tournaments, you can request a manager by clicking "No Show" or "Dispute" in the match chat. Match chats can be found by clicking the chat icon in the top right corner of the screen and selecting My Matches.
  • Live support is found at the bottom of the FAQ page via the Contact Us button and in the chat bar at the top right corner of the website.
  • If you need general help with site navigation or other general issues, please use the live chat and request an admin

*24/7 live support is offered to handle all challenge matches and tournaments with live support

Accidental disputes and incorrect reports

  • Tournaments and games with live support

    • If you misreport your game or accidentally argue, you can still accept defeat if you are the team leader. For other issues, the live support team can be contacted via the match chat by selecting "Request Admin".

  • ticketed games

    • All ticket submissions reported and completed by users are considered closed. Only matches that go through the match ticket system can be annulled. If your team reports a loss, the results of that game will not be annulled.

Server failures, timeouts and maintenance

  • Game server outages, maintenance work, and increased wait times are often unexpected during gameplay. If you or an opponent have any of these problems, be patient and understanding. Please contact live support if you are unsure if you are currently experiencing delays.

Incorrect gamertags and ID

  • Tournaments and games with live support

    • For live chat supported games and tournaments, simply select the No Show or Request an Admin button in the match chat and they will be able to assist you.

  • ticketed games

    • If a user joins the game with a gamertag or ID that is not listed in the game details, they must:

    • Treat output as no show

    • If your team is hosting, eject the player not listed in the game details. If the correct gamertag or ID does not fit into the gap period, you will be able to start the game. If the opponent refuses to play at the start of the game, they lose this card.

    • If your opponent is hosting the game and has the wrong gamertag or ID, refuse to play (if the game starts, leave immediately). Take the appropriate proof of no-show and submit it to the appropriate support category.

    • Any issues that arise during gameplay must be resolved in the dedicated CMG match chat.

    • The game must not be played. If the game is played in its entirety, the result stands. You must provide proof of the point at which you added them or the lobby you were invited to.

Controversial game results

  • Tournaments and live support matches
    • Admins handle controversial live support and tournament matches through a dedicated chat.
  • Appetizer
    • For games without live support, you must submit a ticket if you wish to object.

What should the tickets contain?

  • Valid evidence to support your claims
  • Gamertags or game player IDs
  • Timestamp evidence to validate when everything happened and to ensure that the evidence is correct
  • Anything else you can think of can help an administrator with their decision.

Dispute decisions and ticket escalation

  • Once a match dispute has reached a verdict and you still disagree with the result, you can escalate the fine. Escalating a ticket puts it through a second check to ensure that no wrong calls have been made.
  • To resubmit your ticket, go to the "My Tickets" section and scroll to the "Closed" tab to find the ticket in question. Clicking on the ticket takes you to the Escalate button.
  • The escalations are not intended to add additional evidence. They are for fake calls from admins. In the case of escalations, new tests will not be taken into account. Be sure to submit all proofs by clicking submit.
  • Elite members get unlimited free ticket escalations. For regular members, the fee is $0.05 per ticket.

Adding additional tests and comments to tickets

  • While escalations do not consider additional evidence, you can still add additional comments and evidence to your original ticket BEFORE it is first reviewed. You have a short window to add additional comments and to correct or add any additional evidence you have. Usually this should be done within the first hour of submitting the ticket.

What to do after submitting a ticket

  • Please wait patiently while your ticket is processed. Also, even if a game is terminated by an admin, be sure to keep all evidence for up to 48 hours.

How long does a ticket dispute last?

  • Contest tickets will be processed in the order they are received, with elite member tickets being processed first. Tickets are usually processed within 24-36 hours. Some complex and escalated disputes may take longer to resolve.

General Prohibitable Offenses

  • Game results are not reported
  • Incorrect game reports

What is a Timed Kill Race event?

A Warzone Timed Kill Race event is CMG's newest game mode. Played as singles, duos, trios, or quadruples, Timed Kill Race tracks your and your CMG teammates' kills over a set period of time via the tracking API.

For example, in a 2-hour event, you play as many Warzone games as you want, and at the end of the 2 hours, the team with the most kills in full games wins.

Your kills are counted by the API that tracks your Activision ID and your PSN or gamertag. If both are correct, then all you have to do is play.

If you have additional questions, please see the following FAQs:

What game modes can I play?

You can play in singles, duo, trio or quadruple. You CANNOT play Warzone Rumble.

How are my statistics tracked?

CMG tracks your statistics through our own API. We use your Activision ID and PSN or Gamertag to automatically detect your kills, deaths, and games played.

Why aren't my stats being tracked?

  • The tracker is continually updated. This means that it may take a few minutes after each update for your stats to display correctly.
  • You may not have finished the game in time. Only matches completed before the release of the corresponding update will be tracked.
  • One of your identifiers may have been misspelled.
    • If you only see a space under your name after an update, it's likely that your PSN, Gamertag, or Activision ID is misspelled. In that case, you will not be able to be tracked for the rest of the event.
  • Your Gamertag/ActivisionID/PSN can be set to private. To ensure that you can be tracked in the CMG API, you must set up search and data visible to everyone in your connected CoD accounts.Here. If either of these options is set to "None" or "Friends", we won't be able to find your stats for either platform. By default, they are typically set to All.
  • Special characters are displayed incorrectly. There are some common mistakes in names, like B. two hyphens (--) joined into an em dash (-), which will prevent our API from tracking you if they're wrong.
  • If you have other issues, you can contact live support who will be able to help you. However, live support cannot change or update your stats even with evidence. It is currently in BETA mode and will be optimized over time. Any help they could provide would be troubleshooting and would simply have to do with getting your account to a point where our system is tracking it.

My Gamertag/ActivisionID/PSN was wrong when I started. Can I change it after the event has started?

No, your Gamertag/ActivisionID/PSN will be locked at the start of the event and cannot be changed even if you change it on your account.

What happens if I'm in a game when the event ends?

You cannot be in a game when the event ENDS. You must exit the game 1-2 minutes before the end of the event; otherwise, kills received in that match will not be counted.

Do I and my duo/trio/squad have to play together?

While we recommend that you do this, you do not need to play the entire event with your duo/trio/team.

What are side tournaments?

Sub-tournaments are tournaments hosted by Twitch streamers on CMG. For sub-tournaments, each team member must be subscribed to the streamer on Twitch and have CMG accounts linked to their Twitch.

what are the trophies

Trophies are earned when you win a tournament in CMG. A trophy is also a great decoration for your profile page. The more trophies you have, the better your profile page will look.

PC Streaming Requirements!

Each team needs to obtain the streaming links of the opposing team's PC players before the start of the game. You can collect this information by viewing the social networks the user has linked through the team section on the game details page OR you can request it in game chat if they don't have streams linked.

ALL PC players playing ANY CMG game MUST stream with the above streams ON for in-game VOD to be available.

If your previous streams are not enabled and an admin can't easily find your game in the match, you will be kicked out of the match, no questions asked. This is a zero tolerance policy and it is up to the admin to lapse or not.

Betray:
Here at CMG we have a zero tolerance policy for cheaters/hackers. If we detect in your stream or VOD that you are using a third party software/device to cheat/hack, you will be permanently banned from the platform.

Administrators can request additional evidence from any user suspected of hacking. Failure to provide additional evidence to an administrator may result in your game being banned/lost.

Please check your spam/junk and ALL email folders for this email.

tickets + support

what are the tickets

  • deliberate game competition
  • Presentation of any form of falsified evidence
  • use of ancient evidence
  • Row Capture
  • bypass the bans
  • Ring
  • Any form of DDosing
  • impersonate an administrator
  • Keyboard
  • Any form of cheating or hacking.
  • false bets

send proof

The games require you to capture proof of any wins or problems encountered in the game. Record video evidence on your console and then upload it to a public media sharing site, such as Twitter or YouTube. You can then link your test URL to your game's support system.
* Be sure to include gamertags or IDs in your test. A simple image of a single corner of the marker is not enough. A full video or GIF is always preferable.
