Wondering where to watch Super Bowl LVII at Walt Disney World? In this post, we cover the best spots to watch the Big Game on February 12, 2023. From Disney Springs sports bars with huge screens to more obscure resort options that don't have long lines or ridiculous crowds.
Please note that some options that were available in the past will not work or do anything special for this year's Super Bowl as Walt Disney World's phased reopening continues into its second year. (If you've checked another guide recommending ESPN Club, this one is out of date: This site has been permanently closed.)
Plus, face masks and staff shortages mean you won't find the raw, rowdy atmosphere of a sports bar anywhere in Walt Disney World when trying to win the Super Bowl. The good news is there's still a good chance of seeing former Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford in the big game against the Bengals! 🇧🇷Just kidding...as a lifelong Lions fan I have to give the Bengals a huge endorsement for the trade and I know what that must be like for their fans. But I have to cheer for Stafford.)
A few years ago we went to Walt Disney World for the Super Bowl. We started at Planet Hollywood Observatory in Disney Springs, which was from ghost town to quite crowded in the afternoon when we left. It's also worth noting that part of the restaurant was reserved for a private event that night, presumably a Super Bowl viewing party. Private events taking up space at popular venues should be considered when choosing a place to watch the game.
After that we watched part of the game Gurgling Suitcase Libations & Spirits at Disney's Old Key West Resort. For those unfamiliar with Gargling Suitcase, it's a poolside bar, and it's not the first place that springs to mind for many people when deciding where to watch the Super Bowl at Walt Disney World.
For this reason, the gurgling suitcase is realhe wasa good option for watching the game - a good crowd to add some energy to the event but not uncomfortably crowded. There was also no queue to board. The same is true of other bars, lounges, and pool bars in hotels that are not within walking or boating distance from any of the theme parks. Think of places like Saratoga Springs or Coronado Springs.
Speaking of which, the Gran Destino & Coronado Springs Resort is another solid option, mostly because it has several bars and restaurants. We recommend dropping off outdoors🇧🇷 The weather must be nice and occupancy in Coronado Springs is currently low.
If getting to either of these resorts from the parks is too inconvenient, we recommend the bars at Swan & Dolphin (a short drive from Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios) via the BoardWalk and the Beach or Yacht Club. Our choices for the Magic Kingdom area would be Contemporary Resort or Geyser Point at Wilderness Lodge. All of these are now open.
You can also watch the Super Bowl in the common room at any Disney Vacation Club resort. This tends to attract a modest crowd, with a large TV showing the game and food and drink available for purchase. This is a great trail for families, especially if you don't want or need the sports bar atmosphere.
Similarly, many of the deluxe resorts have such rooms. For example, the tanning bed at the Beach Club now has a large TV, which could make it a good option for the Super Bowl. We have no experience with these resorts during the Super Bowl, so check with your hotel front desk to see what options they have (if any) (and let us know in the comments!).
Plus, your hotel room is the obvious spot to watch the game, and the only place you won't find a crowd (unless you want to) or a queue (unless something goes horribly wrong). Of course, this isn't really helpful advice since you (hopefully) already knew your hotel room has a TV with streaming stations.
These are some of the "great" bars to watch sporting events (Super Bowl and others) at Walt Disney World...
City Works Restaurant und Pour House- Now that the ESPN Club is permanently closed, this relatively new addition to Disney Springs is your best bet for watching Super Bowl LVI. This is a truly great game viewing experience, one of the few at Walt Disney World, with great bar food and a great beer selection.
Located on the west side of Disney Springs (the side furthest from most shops), this expansive space offers...classic american food, almost 10Beers on tap, indoor and outdoor seating, and huge HDTVs with state-of-the-art audio and picture quality. It doesn't have the same vibe as ESPN Club, but it's a viable alternative.
Splitville- Normally a fairly unknown place to watch sports, Splitsville will be very busy for the Super Bowl. It's the #1 recommendation for Walt Disney World reservations for people who don't want to spend more than $100 per person, and it would be popular anyway.
However, it's a good option as long as you arrive early or make an early dinner reservation. The vibe won't be exactly the same, but it's certainly a good option with plenty of TVs and a sports bar vibe.
End zone food court- If you've ever spent time at the All Star Sports Food Court during peak breakfast hours, you'll have a pretty good idea of what it's like. Why anyone would choose to do this is beyond us, but it's definitely an option that would see the Super Bowl (projected) on a big screen.
It's also perfect for Cleveland Browns fans who would be uncomfortable with a viewing experience that doesn't involve a certain level of discomfort. (Girl, but I'm a lifelong Detroit Lions fan, so I know your pain.)
Salas Martha's Vineyard oder Crew's Cup- Each deluxe resort has an intimate lounge that creates an atmosphere of watching the game at a friend's house. Still, this duo is within walking distance of Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios, our favorites. Seating in both is extremely limited, so get there early.
Finally, there are numerous viewing options for the Super Bowl or any other sporting event at Walt Disney World. Which one is right depends on how much you're willing to spend, what type of audience (or lack thereof) you want to deal with, and how much time you're willing to devote to the experience.
