Tanjuro seemed to have a connection to the demon hunter world and was a wise but frail and sickly man. Tanjuro Kamado is a very fascinating character. As we will see in the following paragraphs, he was an incredibly strong and capable character. His powers and abilities were certainly on par with a demon slayer (and one of the higher ranks, not one of the lower ranks), but he himself wasn't a demon slayer in his lifetime.
It's possible his illness is because of that or because he met Hinokami Kagura, it wasn't necessary for him to leave his family, but whatever, Tanjuro Kamado wasn't a demon slayer.

Tanjuro Kamado: Powers and Abilities
A descendant of the Kamado family and with the ability to enter the "Transparent World", Tanjuro's birthmark on his forehead was secretly a Demon Slayer Mark. This proves Shinjuro's explanation that everythingUsers who breathe the sunOf course you have a mark on your forehead.

Throughout his life, Tanjuro has not radiated impulse, hatred, anger, fighting spirit, hostility, or fear, even in extreme situations such as death or fighting a giant bear. This is heavily inspired by Yoriichi Tsugikuni's ability to stop his fighting spirit/lust for blood for battle.
Not being a demon slayer, Tanjuro had tremendous endurance. Despite his illness, weak body and freezing environment, he was able to practice the ritual dance Hinokami Kagura from dusk to dawn without a break.

After his banishment, Yoriichi decided he had a lot on his mind and wanted to talk to someone. He could only imagine his friends Sumiyoshi and Suyako and decided to visit them. He meets and sits down with Sumiyoshi and tells him his full story, from his beginnings to his banishment from the Demon Slayer Corps.
Yoriichi recalled his tragedies and spoke of his regret for letting Muzan live and the countless deaths that would follow, and Yoriichi was distraught. Sumire, Sumiyoshi's daughter, comes at this moment and asks for a hug. At Sumiyoshi's request, he picks her up, makes her laugh and squeal with delight, makes him cry and kisses her. Suyako, Sumiyoshi's wife, comes soon after to comfort him, offer Yoriichi a meal, and cheer him up.
While she was with the Kamados, Suyako had Yoriichi perform the Hinokami Kagura. He did it gently, executing every move with such grace that he was more likened to a ghost than a human. Sumiyoshi carefully observed these demonstrations and recorded them in his memory. On his last visit, Yoriichi gave Sumiyoshi his own, although he said he was welcome anytimeinafuda earrings🇧🇷 Sumiyoshi and Suyako realized that it would be the last time he would see them.
Overcome with emotion, Sumiyoshi called out to Yoriichi as he walked away, asking him to stop saying that he was a worthless man. He recalled saving her and expressed his promise to preserve the Hinokami kagura dance forms through his descendants. Hearing this, Yoriichi turns and smiles widely, thanking the Kamados and greeting them.
Despite the seemingly limited lifespan of 25 years suffered by those who bore the Demon Slayer's Mark, Yoriichi lived to be 80 years old, but became blind from continuing to slay demons. He would eventually die while fighting his brother, who had since transformed into the Kokushibo Demon.
Sumiyoshi is a distant descendant of Tanjiro.Although it is now known exactly how they are related, it is known that they are. Sumiyoshi was the first known practitioner of the Sun Breathing Style along with Yoriichi and truly kept his promise to Yoriichi, passing the technique down through the generations until it finally reached Tanjiro.
Now, Yoriichi and Sumiyoshi were not directly related, which in turn means that Tanjiro and Tanjuro Kamado were not related to Yoriichi. But Sumiyoshi was Yoriichi's only true friend, and the kindness of the Kamado family helped Yoriichi overcome his doubts. Because of this, the story of Yoriichi is inseparable from the story of the Kamado family, although there is no direct relationship between them.
This story happened many years before we saw Tanjiro and wasn't something the Kamado family talked about often; maybe yes, but most died when Tanjuro and Nezuko grew up a bit. Why do Tanjiro and his father have the same scar?
The scar we saw on Tanjuro and Tanjiro's headsit wasn't really a scar but, as we explained earlier, the mark of the demon slayer. It is a mysterious mark that can be obtained and appear on the body of a powerful demon slayer. But Tanjuro wasn't a demon slayer, and even Tanjiro became one after a series of tragic events, so how did they manage?
This appears to be the result of Kamados' connection to the Sun Breathing style. Namely, all Solar Breath users are said to have a Demon Slayer mark, showing that they are extremely powerful and people of extreme potential. Well, Tanjuro wasn't a demon slayer, so he never activated his mark, but he certainly benefited from it, as did Tanjiro (before the latter actually activated it).
That's why they both have the same scar: it's a birthmark that shows their tremendous power and potential, which is why it's present on both of them.
How did Tanjiro's father die?
Tanjuro suffered from an illness that left his skin dull and pale. At some point in his life, Tanjuro married Kie and had six children.
